Inventory Management: Scanner Screens
Project Overview
Rancho Las Palmas, a distinguished resort within the OMNI Hotels portfolio, approached us to enhance their inventory management system for spa products. The resort’s existing manual process required staff to cross-check and update inventory data for spa essentials like creams, oils, and candles in the Resortsuite software. This time-consuming method not only increased the risk of errors but also led to operational inefficiencies due to frequent rechecks.
Key Responsibilities
To address these issues, I designed a streamlined, user-friendly interface specifically for the Zebra MC9300 Scanner, a popular handheld device with an 800x400 pixel resolution. My focus was on delivering an intuitive layout that enabled staff to efficiently scan and update spa inventory data in real time. The interface was optimized for clarity and usability, allowing staff to manage manual entries seamlessly, particularly for items with low stock.
Design Execution
The prototype walkthrough I developed showcases how staff can handle these manual entries while interacting with a simplified, effective system. By incorporating real-time updates and clear visual cues, we helped Rancho Las Palmas reduce both time spent on data entry and error rates, ultimately enhancing the accuracy of their inventory management and overall operational flow.
