Client Background:
Kevin J. Munn is an educator that has travelled the world and developed a board game that encourages learning. Aimed for children between Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5, each game is based on Matching, Category and Flash Card learning strategy. Using the aquatic theme ‘Ocean Chase’ , my team and I, started the process to recreate the educational game  on a mobile platform for children to play, and most importantly, to learn with.

The Challenge

Parents often lack the time necessary to support their child with their school work.
Subject specific educational tabletop games engage students but are costly, cumbersome and time consuming to learn.

Generating Data

We conducted a series of surveys and interviews targeted towards families. We also performed an on site observational study with young children at a local school. We used Hungry Minds original table top game to ascertain as to what motivates them to learn and have fun at the same time .
Site Map & User Flow

When the time came to to develop the site map and develop a user flow,  we wanted ensure that navigation would be easy to use, especially for the child
Visual Design

Our two Ui team members present on our group created bright saturated hues for very animated bubbly feelings that would suit the nature of the learning app.
Mid Fi s

On the Mid Fidelities, we wanted to ensure that parents had the foremost control on their child's learning abilities whereas. We also made it a point that the child themselves are encouraged to learn through positive reinforcements by the games narrator.
Final UI

The Final Design shows off the bright bubbly feelings to the learning app. There is cool fun modernity to games appearance without giving in  to a kitsch look.  You can also see how the Game Narrator encourages the player when answering the correct information
